Supply Chain Efficiencies- A range of measures have been taken to reduce the costs and carbon footprint throughout our supply chain. Examples include sending fruit direct from the grower to the customer (Poupart Citrus) reducing extra transport and storage costs, Heat sealing packs to reduce weight and amount of packaging used, reducing packaging types to lower cost of bulk purchasing, Increasing the height of pallets in order to fit more product onto trucks, sending local produce to local depots, Good planning and forecasting to allow maximum efficiency in pack houses, promoting 'Backhaul' in order to prevent empty trucks and educating suppliers about sustainability in order to complement each other in this area.
Poupart Trading Philosophy- The Poupart Group's philosophy is to deal ethically with both customers , suppliers and stakeholders in an open, honest and trusting relationship built on generations of integrity.
SEDEX Membership- All growers within Berryworld, Orchardworld & Poupart Citrus are members of SEDEX. SEDEX allows companies to monitor the ethical performance of customers, suppliers and partners in order to meet the objectives they have been set. It allows audit reports, self-assessments, corrective actions and the overall status of a site/company to be viewed and therefore all the relevant people are kept in the loop if any improvement is required.
Working Relationships- Several of Poupart's key suppliers are also partners or shareholders in businesses related to the Group i.e. VBM Chile, Edward Vinson(UK), Hall Hunter Partnership (UK), V. Giner (Spain) , Beekers Fruit (Holland). This emphases the close working relationship between Poupart and its grower base.
Carbon Footprint Studies- The group is focusing on how we manage our output into the environment, with particular attention being paid to our carbon footprint. With more than 400 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year of that footprint being contributed by employee car usage and flights, the company is encouraging staff to car share. It also aims to step up the level of recycling taking place across its various sites.
