Skip 2B Fit Ltd aim to introduce skipping to a new generation.
The scheme was set up by John McCormack, once the No.2 ABA Ranked Heavyweight of Great Britain and now a fully qualified Professional Boxing Trainer licensed by the British Boxing Board Of Control.
He has used his Twenty years of boxing experience to teach the benefits of skipping and how this easy and inexpensive exercise could benefit thousands of people in improving their fitness.
One of the aims is to reintroduce skipping into as many playgrounds as possible, by using the SKIP2BFIT digital rope, visiting schools teaching the benefits of the exercise. Children are encouraged to start skipping by first giving them a visual display of speed skipping and showing them the tricks possible with the rope.
At the end of the skipping session, the importance of eating a healthy, balanced diet is discussed with the children, and the benefits of fresh fruit and veg in particular are highlighted. Each child is given a small pack of blueberries to eat while they take part in further discussions about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
To establish skipping as an easy to learn, exciting and challenging activity, which links healthy living to science and education.
BerryWorld and blueberry supplier Winterwood are sponsoring SKIP2BFIT, and will be funding some of the school sessions (others will be funded by local councils, or by the individual schools). In addition we are supplying fresh blueberries for each child, along with a fun product information sheet.
